North Lookout Pavilion is Cheung Chau’s highest point so it offers a bird’s eye view of the village and its beaches.

From Cheung Chang Ferry Pier, it only takes around 20 minutes to reach the pavilion. Plus, the path leading to it is paved and relatively flat, so you can accomplish this hike even if you’re not much of a hiker.

Feeling extra adventurous? After checking out the North Lookout Pavilion, explore another vantage point – Pak Kok Tsui. This small peninsula is a few steps away from the pavilion, and it offers beautiful views of Lamma Island.

Operating hours: Monday to Sunday – Open 24 hours

Cheung Po Tsai Cave is a well-known attraction in the island. Although there are no treasure chests left inside, many people are thrilled to explore the cave’s dark and narrow underground passages where notorious pirates once hid.

Remember, it’s super dark inside. Make sure you bring a small flashlight and don’t forget to wear sturdy shoes or boots!

We don’t recommend this to claustrophobics, though. The entrance is really narrow, and some climbing is involved when inside. But don’t worry. You can still take many pictures outside the cave and the rock formations in the area.

It’s also where the famous “bun snatching contests” happen every year. During the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, the temple features three tall towers entirely covered by plastic buns.

If you join this competition, you’ll have to climb the bun tower as fast as you can while snatching as many plastic buns as possible. The more buns you grab, the better your fortune will be!
