Tried the 11 Best Cookies Shops in Hong Kong – Here are My Thoughts

Having been obsessed with those chunky New York cookies, I thought I already knew what a good cookie tasted like: gooey inside, with a nice crunchy layer outside. But wow – Hong Kong has really humbled me fast!

From options that sell spicy cookies to famous bakery branches that tourists love, I’ve tried every single cookie that has been making noise for years. Polling locals isn’t enough – I had to try each one of them personally!

Curious now? Let’s get to it to help you find a new fave!

Operating Hours: Sunday – Saturday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Cookie Vission may sell cookies at a much higher price, but here’s the thing – you can’t get them any bigger and any tastier anywhere else. And for those who bore easily with the same old flavors, the shop is the perfect choice because they offer new options regularly.

They don’t skimp on ingredients, which you can already tell from the texture of their goods – rich and never dry. For fruit-based flavors, they even include actual fruit pieces so the value for money is there.

If available, you really shouldn’t skip their triple chocolate cookie. This one has a nice dark chocolate dough base and is topped with 60% dark chocolate chips and white chocolate chunks. Simply put, it’s the best thing ever!

Everybody loves butter cookies, right? But if you’re looking for an HK-staple, you shouldn’t ignore Jenny Bakery at all! This popular spot is familiar to both locals and tourists alike for their home-grown butter cookies.

Their products, according to the owners, do not contain preservatives and coloring. All raw materials used are GMO-free too, so our friends who are quite particular with organic goodies will likely love their offerings as well.

For the best flavors, let’s keep it simple – just get a can of at least 4 mixed flavors (the classic butter and coffee are nice starters). They’re not super expensive so you can stock up – just be prepared for the queue.

3. Cookieism

If you have a thing for those delicious American soft cookies, all you have to do is drop by Cookieism. This specialist shop has everything nice you can think of: handmade daily, no preservatives, and French Valrohan chocolate.

There are many flavors you can try here – they even have those nice cookie specials for holidays. For example, you can try their salted egg yolk cookies that match well with any mooncake for the mid-autumn festivities.

Beyond the flavors, I think you’ll appreciate the texture of their goods, with their perfectly crispy outer layer. They can only last up to 3 days at room temperature, but let’s be honest – it’s easy to devour these in just minutes!

If you want butter cookies but prefer something more “premium,” Conte de Cookie has the options for you. Apart from the products themselves, the packaging here is beautiful—perfect as a gift or for your own indulgence.

If you plan on getting some, I recommend getting their smaller pieces, as they’re perfect for a light snack. You can opt for a different size if you’re planning on getting them as a gift though!

Store is pretty small but it’s not crowded so you can shop leisurely. By the way, you can ask to sample their cookies first so you get an idea if they’re just your type.

Imagine the craziest flavor you’ve ever tried in a cookie and I’ll bet Pin Cookies has something to come and beat that!

Staying away from the typical sweet treats, this place offers goodies that are ideal for savory and spicy cravings. This local HK brand doesn’t hold back with their flavors, using Cantonese seasoning as the main ingredient for each paste.

So imagine this: XO sauces, chili shrimp, and scallion chicken into your beloved dessert! And no, it’s not weird – they’re some of the best flavors you can score. The taste is balanced with no hints of preservatives and texture is solid without sacrificing a bit of softness.

If you still prefer the typical sweet flavors though, they have nice macadamia crisp cookies. This one has a nice chocolate taste to it that’s not too overpowering. Pair with their famous nougat and you’re set!

6. Glory Bakery

Address: 10 Carnarvon Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui

Contact Details: +852 2811 8482

Operating Hours: Saturday – Sunday: 10:30 AM – 8:30 PM

If your idea of a good dessert is those traditional Western-style cookies, Glory Bakery is your friend. They keep things simple, with a solid variety of flavors including lemon tea, butter, and chocolate chip.

What makes these goods better than most large bakeries is that they’re handmade fresh each day. And if you find that the crunch perfectly settles in your mouth, it’s because of one thing – they use Chinese rice flour instead of eggs to give it that texture!

When buying, I recommend getting a box of various flavors. Some good ones include the coffee and chocolate flavors (for classic fans), the Ovaltine and almond, and Horlicks and macadamia nuts (for those who want a nice chomp).

Contact Details: +852 2382 2827

Operating Hours: Saturday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Taste and texture are what the Cookie Quartet is all about. Having been around HK for over 10 years, I’m sure you’ve caught wind of this shop already – they even have a branch at the airport (if you’re a tourist, you may have spotted it!).

Every single option here shares a common trait: the tastes are subtle and light in texture. Every bite is fantastic, considering the cookers aren’t chalky or overly buttery, which can be a little too overpowering.

For your next must-try, get their Szechuan spicy cookies (no, skip the chocolates for now!). This one has a nice balance of butter cookies and spice – and don’t worry, the flavor isn’t nauseating, it’s quite addicting!

8. Butter

Address: Shop 007 LG1, Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, Admiralty

Contact Details: +852 2810 0660

Operating Hours: Saturday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM

You need a cookie for a quick bite? Or maybe just need a complete box to bring to a playdate or an afternoon party at the park? Butter makes it easy for buyers not to overthink their options – it’s straight-up the classic cookie shop with many familiar and loved favorites.

Their chocolate chip is hard to beat – it has this nice soft and chewy texture, with a butter outer layer that feels like it’s melting in your mouth. The sugar taste is just right, and if you have it with coffee, it won’t water down your drink’s taste (just a bit, maybe).

What’s great is that you can order large quantities at this store. Beyond the typical dozen, you can call ahead to play a big batch for a special occasion.

9. Cherikoff

Address: Shop 29, G/F, Allied Plaza, 760 Nathan Road, Prince Edward

Contact Details: +852 2381 8195

Operating Hours: Saturday – Sunday: 7:00 AM – 10:30 PM

Price: $

Cherikoff, a beloved bakery in Prince Edward, is a nice spot to score some baked goodies. It’s unassuming and easy to miss, but if you’re up for cookies that don’t need to try hard to stand out, you’re in the right place.

To enjoy their offerings, it’s best to get a bag with mixed flavors. Their chocolate cookies are a favorite here, as they’re fragrant and fresh without leaving an overpowering buttery taste in the mouth.

The peanut flavor almost has this flavor akin to a white rabbit candy. The walnuts are not that sweet, but they have a nice strong smell and are buried hard in the cookie’s body. In short, super enjoyable to bite into.

10. The Peninsula Boutique & Café

Website: https://www.peninsulaboutique.com/

Address:  The Peninsula Arcade, Salisbury Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui

Contact Details: +852 2696 6969

Operating Hours: Saturday – Sunday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Price: $$$

You know, enjoying a nice set of cookies is also an experience in itself, and there’s no better place to do that than The Peninsula. Elegant, stylish (and obviously expensive), this venue is perfect for that quiet afternoon tea moment amidst the crazy Tsim Sha Tsui crowd.

Their selection comes in options of 8 to 12 pieces so it’s easy to share with a small group. To name a few, they have Earl grey tea cookies, cheese palmiers, and black and white sesame palmiers (palmiers, by the way, mean elephant ear cookies).

If you want to give them as presents, no problem – they come in a premium tin that’s best for presentation. Grab one of their sparkling teas while you’re at it, I’m sure your recipient will appreciate the thought!

11. Crewkies

Website: https://crewkies.com/

Address:  7 Graham St, Central

Contact Details: +852 5911 2086

Operating Hours: Saturday – Sunday: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Price: $$

For a taste of New York-style cookies, Crewkies is your stop. Their options have a nice chewy and fudgy texture that’s ideal for those who love a nice soft cookie.

What’s really cool about this stop though is that you can create your own cookie topping! If available, I urge you to try potato chips as a topping (yes, they have it!) – it’ll give your cookie a nice crunch and a good savory taste to it!

Their cookie packers come in six and twelve pieces a pack (there are mini packs too, depending on what they’re selling for the day). You can order online too if you need a more convenient option.
