Hong Kong has incredible international cuisine – turn around, and you’ll find Taiwanese boba joints at every corner and hidden gems that feature the best of Southeast Asia. But what about the West?
Don’t worry, American food isn’t hard to find in the city! But to make sure you don’t fall into suspicious tourist traps, I’ve chopped the best options down to some of the most beloved spots among locals.
Check them out!

For anyone who loves good beer and a good time, TAP in Mong Kok is a great spot. The best part is that there’s always something to look forward to – all thanks to their 18 rotating taps that offer fresh picks every visit.
When it comes to food, you’ll find many American classics. Their coriander burger is a bomb of flavors with its juicy beef, crispy deep-fried cilantro, and a nice tangy house sauce.
If you prefer something more sweet and savory, you’ll like their toasted gai with crispy fried chicken and malted barley syrup.
Prices aren’t insane either – you can enjoy a decent meal here from $100 to $150 per person. And if you want to enjoy its quieter setting, all you have to do is score a spot during the afternoons.

If you want that classic pub vibe for a meal, don’t skip The Glove. It’s a nice place for a laidback meal, with food that really won’t break the bank (unless you’re paying for everyone, though!).
The fish and chips here are a fave. The fries are thick-cut, making them a nice bite, and the level of crunchiness is just right. There’s a nice splash of malt vinegar too, so it’s not too overpowering to the senses.
If you want to match that with a drink, any beer will seriously get you by. For something more personal though, just ask the bartender – they’re super nice and always up for a chat!
3. Wingman HK
Website: https://wingman.hk/

Who doesn’t love chicken wings? If you can’t tell yet by the name, Wingman is the perfect destination for the best diner-style chicken wings. It’s also a great spot to drag your friends to with its casual, energetic vibe for a quick lunch.
If you don’t know what to choose, you really can’t go wrong with their buffalo wings. This one has just the right amount of spice, so it’s easy to chow down multiple pieces in one go.
But if you’re like me and want a little bit of spice, their Singapore zing is the best option. Every wing is marinated for 24 hours, so every flavor is literally absorbed in every fiber.
Pro tip: come hungry! There’s an all-you-can-eat option that really allows you to go all out! But if you want to save a bit, come Wednesday when wings are just $5 each when you grab a drink.

Smoke & Barrel is an authentic Texas-style barbeque joint in Hong Kong. The place’s aroma alone, combined with the rustic wood interiors and neon signboard, really ties the vibe together.
Come here and don’t overthink it – order the brisket to enjoy its tender and smoky profile (otherwise, you can get their pulled pork for something juicier). On the side, make sure to get their creamy mac and cheese!
Prices are fair and the portions are big enough to share (this is definitely the kind of place you’ll want to bring your fam or friends to).
And if you can handle it, go ahead and try their “Conquer the Beast” challenge for the ultimate meat feast! This challenge includes ½ racks of ribs, 400g of pulled pork, 300g of brisket, and a bowl of French fries – win, and you get a $1,000 voucher; lose, and you pay $800 per platter!

If you want steak but want to enjoy it in an upscale dining setting, then you shouldn’t miss Morton’s. This steakhouse has the perfect mood for a luxurious meal. It features dim lighting, dark wood interiors, and plush seating sets.
And did I mention they have awesome views of Victoria Harbour too?
To start off your meal, get their 45-day dry-aged porterhouse. It’s light and has the perfect char, so you can enjoy those smoky flavors at the start of your evening.
If you’re coming with a date though, check out their dinner for two option. This comes with wagyu New York strips with buttery lobster tails.
Expect premium prices though. If you want the best bang for your buck, you may want to book those window seats weeks in advance!

Burger Joys delivers flavors from Los Angeles straight to Wan Chai. It’s the ideal spot to enjoy a nice, big burger, especially if you’re craving a midnight bite.
If you want the best, you can’t skip their double cheeseburger that’s loaded with double black Angus beef and melty American cheese. If you’re more into chicken though, enjoy their chicken burger with grilled Brazilian thigh and honey mustard.
For vegetarians, they have mushroom burgers too!

Harbourside Grill is the place to go if you want top-tier steaks with jaw-dropping views. Their outdoor terrace is perfect for alfresco dining, but their indoor seating is just as good too – the interior is sleek and offers front-row seats to the skyline.
As for the food, you can’t go wrong with their ribeye – it’s grilled on a Spanish Josper grill, giving it a nice smoky flavor. For seafood lovers, you’ll definitely enjoy their pan-fried sea bass with crushed potatoes and lobster bisque.
Their drink menu is just as fun with creative cocktails like sherry cobbler and the refreshing love in Paris. And if you love dessert, I recommend ordering their apple tarte tatin with creme fraiche – this one’s made to order so it’s always warm, giving the caramelized top a nice sweetness.
8. The Grill Room

If you can’t get enough of steak (like me), The Grill Room should be next on your list. The modern interior with soft lighting and plush seating offers a great space for date nights and group gatherings.
Need food to share? Their prime tomahawk is a massive 1.5kg steak! Maybe grab that if you’re on a nice, evening date.
If you love seafood, though, their lobster tail linguine is the perfect choice – the lobster meat is succulent and has a nice hint of garlic and shallots for taste. But if you’re a light eater, I think you’ll appreciate how creamy and earthy their porcini mushroom risotto is.
9. Honky Tonks Tavern

Great drinks and great food is all Honky Tonks Tavern is about. This Nashville-inspired venue is a chill spot for bar classics, including their playful cocktails, wines, and hard slushies.
Their hot chicken is a great start to bring your meal together. It has a nice balance of heat and crunch. Their creole-style deviled eggs are great for some light bits, though I prefer getting kung pao chicken pizza for bolder flavors.
By the way, they have Honky Hour deals that run from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM daily and all night on Wednesdays. If you want to feast and save, bookmark the times!
10. Graceland

Graceland brings that signature taste of the American South with its nostalgic vibes. Come here and you’ll find vintage posters and a classic jukebox that makes it feel like you’re stepping into a small-town diner.
For classic bites, their friend’s chicken sandwich is awesome. It’s available in classic, buffalo, and Nashville-hot flavors. If you’re in the mood for a hearty meal, their house-smoked baby back ribs will make you fall for their fall-off-the-bone tenderness.
Drinks? You can choose from their cocktail options or grab one from their draught beer selection. Their hound dog highball is a fave, though. It’s sweet and sour and has just the right mix of lemon and peach.

For those who love to pair their meals with good music, The Musicbox is the perfect spot. Here, you can enjoy great food while bumping up with the tunes of the DJ and some live performances.
What’s great about this place is that it’s best for groups. So if you’re coming over with your best friends, you’ll definitely enjoy their seafood platter with Cajun sauce. This platter includes thick abalone, large mussels, clams, and shrimp!
If you want to go all out though, you can explore their selection of steaks. Prices are reasonable, so you won’t feel guilty eating out.

For that authentic New York bagel experience right in the heart of Hong Kong, Schrangels is the place to be. Its brick-walled interior feels like the classic deli, making for a cozy spot for a relaxed breakfast or lunch.
Staying true to tradition, their kettle-boiled bagels are baked fresh daily. To enjoy their options, you can start with their Reuben sandwich. It’s packed with perfectly salty corned beef with just enough fat to melt in your mouth.
Alternatively, you can enjoy a chicken salad on sesame bagel for something light. The large chunks of chicken are juicy and the vegetables bring in a subtle sweetness that makes each bite refreshing.
