13 Best Afternoon Teas in Hong Kong That Will Have You Sipping in Style
When I moved to Hong Kong for work, I was ready for the hustle—long hours and tight deadlines, which every local knows by heart.
What I didn’t anticipate, however, was how much I would come to cherish the quiet moments. Surprisingly, it was a bit of British tradition that helped me settle in.
Since afternoon tea is my go-to escape, I wasn’t about to settle for a hole-in-the-wall spot. Instead, I sought luxurious venues with stunning views, impeccable service, and breathtaking treats.
If you’re visiting Hong Kong for work or leisure (or a permanent stay!), these are the afternoon tea spots not to miss. Ready to take a break, sip, and savor? Let’s dive in!

Sitting 103 floors above The Ritz-Carlton, Cafe 103 will mesmerize you with the panoramic views of Victoria Harbour. Much like the best cafes in the city, the elegant setting makes it the ideal spot for those who love to splurge.
The food was just as impressive as the view. The warm, buttery scones paired perfectly with the thick clotted cream and jam. My absolute favorite was the Rocher hazelnut cream pie. It was nutty and sweet without being overbearing.

Salisterra at the Upper House is another elegant stop for afternoon tea. Their Mediterranean-inspired decor with panoramic views of the harbor will remind you why every penny is worth the splurge here.
Their afternoon tea includes a mix of savory and sweet treats. The truffle gougere was my favorite, as it had the right balance of crispiness and fluffiness. The sandwiches, like smoked salmon and coronation chicken, were tasty.
The desserts were also a dream, especially the pear and yuzu vanilla tart. But the chocolate coulis eclairs stole the show with a sweetness that complemented the teas well.
They serve daily from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Fortunately, this time slot is not always crowded, making it the perfect time for afternoon tea.

Each dish was beautifully plated, almost too exquisite to eat. The sweet corn tart melts in your mouth, making it a satisfying starter for sweet lovers.
If you prefer more savory options, they also have finger sandwiches, including smoked salmon, cucumber, and roast beef.
An afternoon tea is not complete without scones. The ones they served were filled with clotted cream and strawberry jam. To balance the flavors, enjoy them with their blended tea.

While the savory options didn’t wow me, the desserts were an absolute highlight. The candied morsels were delicious and fun, so I had a great time.
I also added a glass of champagne, which elevated the experience. After enjoying their house tea, you should try it out as well.
The service was good, and the staff moved quickly and always smiled.

Madame Fu is an excellent option if you’re after a twist on traditional afternoon tea. Unlike other spots offering sandwiches and desserts, they have a blend of dim sum and sweets, making the experience more fun.
The mini lobster roll and rose jam were especially delicious. Having them alongside the quiche and scones was a great choice, as they balanced the flavors.
The service was a little slow, but the atmosphere made up for it. If you can score a seat on their terrace, you can enjoy some sun as you enjoy your tea (and who can pass that up?).
Afternoon tea is served daily from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, with the last call at 4:30 PM. There’s plenty of time to book, so there’s no need to rush. However, it’s still best to call at least a day ahead.

Their afternoon tea features delicious Italian-inspired treats. For starters, their sea urchin montanarina has this melt-in-your-mouth texture, and the lobster maritozzo has a nice buttery profile.
Desserts were just as impressive, thanks to their signature creations. The macarons were light and airy, while the lemon meringue tart had the perfect mix of tangy and sweet.

Magistracy Dining Room offers one of the most elegant afternoon teas in Hong Kong—just like the options we’ve gone through so far! But this one takes things to the next level, with their grand red leather booths and candlelit tables.
The menu blends British classics. The savory options include a coronation toasted crumpet with flavor and smoked salmon soda with a nice herbal kick.
Their sweet selection was equally impressive. The chocolate and cherry choux buns were nice and fluffy. The strawberry eton mess offered a refreshing contrast of fresh and dried strawberries.
The generous portions here mean you’ll leave satisfied. They serve afternoon teas every Saturday from 2:30 PM if you’re interested.

Afternoon tea at Palm Court in The Langham is pure elegance. The use of Wedgwood China and live piano music elevates the ambiance.
The three-tier afternoon tea stand offers dainty sandwiches, decadent pastries, and warm scones. The portions are smaller than usual, so you can enjoy everything without feeling too full.
The beetroot and raspberry scones were a surprise hit. They’re incredibly soft and slightly tart, perfect with the floral rose jam. I had them with a fragrant tea, and the flavors were perfectly balanced.
The pastries, presented in a fun picnic-themed way, were almost too pretty to eat. My favorite was the macarons served in a tiny grass pot; the portions were larger than expected!
The service was friendly and welcoming, though booking a table can be difficult as they fill up quickly. They serve afternoon tea from 12:15 PM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday through Sunday. Consider adding it to your weekend plans.

181 Fortnum & Mason is a dream for afternoon tea lovers willing to spend money on the experience. I chose the savory set, which included a lobster omelet and warm scones. Everything was beautifully presented and served in tiny portions.
The scones were a highlight, with unlimited clotted cream and jam refills. Their Victoria Grey tea is the best with its smooth, floral aroma.
While the seating overlooks the harbor, the views are somewhat obstructed compared to other venues. Fortunately, everything else inside is perfect, so you don’t need to scurry towards the windows.
Afternoon tea is served daily from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. During the week, they’re not super busy, so you may want to book during those times.

Cafe Causette at The Mandarin is a hidden gem for afternoon tea. Its light-filled setting makes it a perfect place to unwind, and its spaciousness will make you feel like you’re swimming in light.
The mandarin cheesecake was light and creamy for dessert, while the pistachio almond tart had the perfect balance of sweetness. The sandwiches were savory, especially the roast beef.
The tea options also didn’t disappoint. But if I had to pick one favorite, it would be the Ceylon orange pekoe tea—I loved its fruity, slightly tangy flavor.
Afternoon tea is served from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. And if you can make it, grab a seat by the windows to enjoy amazing views of Central.

Their impressive tea selection includes blends like Egyptian chamomile and Taiwanese osmanthus oolong. The staff even provides in-depth descriptions of each tea, explaining its origins and flavors so you can make a perfect choice.
For dessert, the rose ring will be difficult to forget with its fragrant lychee panna cotta. But if you prefer something more indulgent, their dark heaven dessert offers a nice balance of rich chocolate and sea salt caramel.
13. Hue Dining

Hue Dining’s afternoon tea is perfect for those who enjoy a sleek, modern interior with upscale vibes. It also has lovely outside views, so you can do a bit of people-watching as you enjoy your tea.
The savory selection stole the show for me. The truffle-mixed salad sandwiches were flavorful, and the sweetcorn prawns had a signature sweetness that blended well with a slight briny profile.
The desserts, however, didn’t quite meet my high expectations. The Meyer lemon curd tartlet had a strange aftertaste, nothing like the citrusy kick I hoped for. It’s a good thing the tiramisu mini cake saved the day with its solid coffee flavor.
